Why sets are where a range starts

A pajama set carries more of your brand than any other sleepwear product. It is the piece that gets photographed, the piece with the most visible construction detail, and the piece a customer judges your quality on. It is also the most common first order for a new brand, because it is a complete product rather than a separate.

That makes it worth over-specifying. A cami set can survive a vague tech pack; a notch-collar button-up set cannot.

Woven or knit — decide this first

Everything downstream depends on it.

Woven sets (poplin, twill, flannel, satin) give you structure, a real collar and a tailored look. They need accurate pattern work, they show seam quality, and the fit has to be built into the pattern because the fabric will not stretch to help.

Knit sets (jersey, modal) are softer, more forgiving on fit, cheaper to print, and faster to assemble. They will not produce a crisp collar, and their quality risks sit in shrinkage and hem behaviour rather than in tailoring.

Most established ranges carry both and split them by season and by price tier.

What a good set specification contains

Fabric reference, blend and weight — not just “cotton”
A size chart with tolerances, or a reference garment we can measure
Collar and placket style with a reference image
Waistband construction and whether the drawcord is functional
Trim details: piping, buttons, pocket
Label and packaging artwork

If any of these are undecided, we can propose an option during sampling — but it should be a decision made deliberately, not a gap discovered in bulk.

Where sets go wrong

The recurring problems are not exotic: shrinkage that was never checked on a washed sample, a collar that reads differently in bulk because the interlining changed, and a waistband that was comfortable in the sample and tight after laundering. All three are sampling-stage problems, which is why we push for a washed sample before fit approval rather than after.

Long-sleeve button-up sets
The classic. Notch or shawl collar, chest pocket optional, contrast piping optional. Usually cotton poplin, flannel or satin.
Short-sleeve t-shirt sets
Knit top with shorts or long pants. The easiest set to print on and the most forgiving on fit.
Cami and shorts sets
Strap top with shorts, typically in modal, viscose or satin. Fit depends heavily on strap construction and bust support.
Notch-collar classic sets
Tailored collar and placket with a shirt-style construction. The most pattern-sensitive style in this category.
Piped and contrast-trim sets
Piping along collar, placket, cuffs and pocket. A small detail that adds meaningful cost and sampling time.

How much does a pajama sample cost?

Sample cost depends on the style, fabric and customization (printing, embroidery, special trims). We confirm the exact sample fee per project before sampling starts — share your design through the quote form for a precise figure.

How long does sampling take?

Sampling time depends on style complexity, fabric availability and the number of revision rounds. We confirm a sampling timeline with each sample order and keep you updated through development.

Can I use my own pajama design?

Yes. Send a tech pack, reference sample or reference photos and we handle pattern development, grading and sampling to your design. Your designs stay confidential to your project.

Will my fit sample be washed before I approve it?

Yes — we launder fit samples before sending them. Cotton shrinks, knits relax and viscose can distort, so a sample approved unwashed is not the garment your customer receives. Approving fit on a washed sample removes the most common cause of bulk fit complaints.

Can you make custom labels and packaging?

Yes — woven or printed main labels, size and care labels, hang tags, polybags and custom boxes, produced to your artwork and confirmed together with your pajama sample.

How long does bulk production take?

Production lead time depends on order quantity, fabric lead time and the production schedule in your season. We confirm the delivery timeline in your quotation and update you through the order cycle.

What quality checks happen during production?

Fabric is inspected before cutting, construction is checked in line while the order is running, finished garments are measured against your approved size chart, and a random sample of packed goods is inspected before shipment. Everything is compared against the sealed pre-production sample rather than a written description of it.

Who owns the pattern developed for my product?

Ask us and we will put it in writing before development starts. Pattern ownership is a commercial term rather than a fixed rule, and it is better agreed at the outset than assumed. Your designs, tech packs and reference materials stay confidential to your project either way.
